More than 1,200 interventions to combat the effects of weather fluctuations

The National Office for Disinfection carried out more than 1,200 interventions across the national territory during the period from January 17 to 28, with the aim of confronting the effects of weather fluctuations, according to a statement by the Office on Thursday.

The statement explained that, “coinciding with the weather fluctuations and heavy rains witnessed in several states, the National Disinfection Office continues to implement an intensive program of field interventions, as all field teams have been recruited at the level of operational units and centers in order to confront the effects of the rain falls that affected several areas of the country.”

These operations resulted in recording 1,212 interventions, which included cleaning and disinfecting 1,046 inspection rooms, cleaning 4,814 cesspools, disinfecting 165 drainage channels, cleaning three reception basins, disinfecting 13,517 linear meters of drainage networks, cleaning 59 gutters, suctioning and removing rainwater over an area of ​​610 square meters, and removing and evacuating 220 square meters of waste and mud.

To carry out these operations, all material and moral resources were mobilized to ensure the success of these interventions. More than 800 workers were recruited, including 549 exploitation workers working on a shift basis.

Important equipment has also been harnessed, including hydraulic trucks and water pumps, the National Office for Disinfection adds in its statement.

These interventions included the states of Laghouat, Mostaganem, Camp, Tlemcen, Sidi Bel Abbes, Ain Temouchent, Djelfa, Skikda, Blida, Medea, Jijel, Annaba, Chlef, Oum El Bouaghi, Illizi, Batna, Biskra, Ouled Jalal, Ouargla, Boussaada, Tizi Ouzou and Boumerdes, which recorded significant rainfall during the period from 17 to 28 January, which It was necessary to activate the emergency intervention system at the level of each state, according to the same source.

These precipitations caused the level of rainwater to rise in several neighborhoods and roads, which required urgent interventions to remove the blockage and dismantle the networks to ensure the normal flow of water, the statement adds.
