Nigerian official: Western Sahara represents a model case for the decolonization process – the new Algeria

The former official at the Presidency of the Nigerian Republic, Ahmed Aminu Ramatu Yusuf, confirmed that Western Sahara represents a model case for a decolonization process that has not yet been completed, stressing that the so-called “autonomy” proposal that he is promoting Morocco “It is a flagrant violation” of international law, the resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union, and the opinion of the International Court of Justice.

In an article published in the electronic newspaper, “Braineum Times“Nigerian, Ramatu Youssef said, limiting the solution to so-called “autonomy” under the alleged Moroccan “sovereignty” means legitimizing the occupation and denying the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination.

He added, “The decolonization of Western Sahara is not just a historical, political, or diplomatic issue. Rather, it is first and foremost an issue of justice. Therefore, all free people in the world, especially those who believe in liberation, justice, and development, must show their solidarity with Sahrawi people And to support him by all possible means in the face of the intransigence of the Moroccan regime.”

He continued, saying: “This month marks the fiftieth anniversary of Morocco’s illegal invasion and occupation of Western Sahara, and at the same time represents the golden jubilee of the Sahrawi people’s resistance and steadfastness for freedom and independence,” adding: “The month of October also represents fifty years of Morocco’s political and diplomatic failure in its repeated attempts to subjugate and silence the struggle of the Sahrawi people, and fifty years of introducing colonial projects.” “It contradicts logic, violates international law, and is inconsistent with human values.”

The same speaker stressed that the so-called “self-rule” proposal “actually aims to legitimize the occupation under a new cover” and violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which affirms that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”

It also violates Article 20 (paragraph 1) of the African Charterhuman rights And the peoples that stipulate that all peoples have the right to exist, have the indisputable right to self-determination, freely choose their political system, and guarantee their economic and social development in accordance with the policies they freely choose.

He pointed out in the context that this “Moroccan trick” insults logic and contradicts the advisory opinion ofInternational Court of JusticeIt blatantly violates the resolutions of the United Nations and the African Union, and is inconsistent with all internationally recognized settlement plans.

He concluded by emphasizing that the decolonization of Western Sahara is not just a political or diplomatic issue, but rather an issue of justice and human dignity, and for this reason – he adds – everyone who believes in freedom, justice and human rights is called to stand with Sahrawi people And support him by all possible means in the face of Morocco’s intransigence and tyranny.
