It aims to deter visitors from exceeding the permitted period of stay for tourism or business purposes, stressing that paying the deposit does not guarantee obtaining a visa, provided that it is refunded if the visitor leaves the United States within the legal period.
This procedure applies to anyone who travels with a passport issued by a country on the list, even if he meets the visa conditions in principle, in addition to filling out Form I-352 of the US Department of Homeland Security, and paying the sponsorship amount exclusively through the Pay.gov platform of the US Department of the Treasury, after receiving direct instructions from a consular officer.
