During a qualitative operation, the National Security Services in the capital were able to overthrow an organized criminal group specialized in drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the arrest of 7 people and the seizure of more than 24 kilograms of processed kif.
A statement from the Algiers State Security Department stated that the Anti-Illicit Drug Trafficking Squad in the First Judicial Police District of Algiers, in the middle of last week, was able to overthrow an organized criminal group that specializes in drug trafficking, as 7 suspects were arrested, with the seizure of more than 24 kilograms of processed sugar.
The National Security Services added that this operation was carried out after extensive field investigations that enabled investigators to uncover the activity of a criminal network specialized in illicit drug trafficking, to identify its members and arrest them successively, along with the seizure of this quantity of toxins.
The capital police services also indicated that the operation that took place under the supervision of the regional competent prosecution enabled the seizure of a quantity of treated kif weighing 24 kg and 300 g, in addition to a sum of money in the national currency amounting to 220 million centimes from the proceeds of the promotion of toxins, as well as 7 tourist vehicles used to transport the toxins.
The National Security Services reported that, after completing the applicable legal procedures, the suspects were brought before the Sidi M’hamed Court, in the case of illicit drug trafficking, the felony of illegal importation of drugs, drug trafficking within an organized criminal group, storage, supply, sale and transport, and money laundering.
