More than 2.4 million customers registered in the commercial registry in Algeria – New Algeria

The total number of economic traders registered in the commercial registry has reached more than 2.4 million, as revealed, today, Thursday, in Algiers, by the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, Amal Abdel Latif.

During a presentation she made before the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on the occasion of the opening of the 33rd edition of the Algerian Production Exhibition at the Exhibition Palace in Pines Bahri, Mrs. Abdellatif explained that the total number of those registered in the commercial registry reached 2,419,913 traders as of December 10, distributed among 2,145,557 natural persons (89 percent of the total registered) and 274,356 legal persons (institutions).

Regarding the distribution of economic customers among the various sectors of activity, the data presented by the Minister show that 42.11 percent of them are active in the field of retail trade (1,092,176 dealers), 37.6 percent are active in the field of services (975,346 dealers), and 14.45 percent in the field of production of services and goods (374,748 dealers), compared to 4.45 percent in wholesale trade (115,423), and 0.90 Percent in import for resale in the case (23243), 0.31 percent in export (8111), and 0.18 percent in the field of craft production (4666).

When addressing the development of productive institutions over the past five years, Mrs. Abdel Latif explained that their number increased by more than 36,000 economic customers, moving from 338,039 customers in 2020 to 374,748 customers at the beginning of this December (+10 percent), including 275,429 natural persons (73 percent of the total number), and 99,319 legal persons (27 percent).

According to the same data, more than 50 percent of the traders active in the field of production of goods and services are concentrated in ten states: Algiers, Oran, Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Bejaia, Constantine, Blida, Boumerdes, Batna, and Bordj Bou Arreridj.
