America suspends immigration applications for 19 countries, including Arab countries – Algerian Dialogue

The administration of former US President Donald Trump announced today, Wednesday, the suspension of all immigration and naturalization procedures related to people coming from 19 countries classified as third world countries.
The decision also included immigrants who had previously passed citizenship tests, in addition to those who entered the United States after January 20, 2021, the date of President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
According to the new directives, each immigrant from these countries will be called back for an individual interview aimed at assessing the extent to which he or she may pose a threat to national security. Foreigners from these countries have also received notices of cancellation of citizenship ceremonies scheduled for this week, including those who have completed the naturalization test. They will not be allowed to take the citizenship oath, as the decision includes everyone who entered American territory on or after Biden’s inauguration.
The list of concerned countries includes: Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
This decision comes after a shooting incident carried out by Afghan Rahmanullah Lakkanwal, 29 years old, against members of the National Guard near the White House in Washington, which resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another.
