Minister of Agriculture: Unprecedented popular participation in the major national afforestation process – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yassin Walid, confirmed that the major national afforestation campaign, during which five million trees were planted in one day across the various states of the country, witnessed widespread and unprecedented popular participation.

The Minister explained that this initiative, which was launched by the Ministry of Agriculture through the General Directorate of Forests in partnership with the Green Algeria Association and its president, Fouad Maala, witnessed a remarkable involvement of various groups of society, including civil and military bodies, associations, and families, in addition to youth and children.

Yassin Walid pointed out that the recruitment of Algerians, young and old, in this distinctive national scene reflects the spirit of collective responsibility, and confirms the ability of the Algerian people to rise to challenges and achieve ambitious goals when efforts are united.

The Minister also highlighted that the General Directorate of Forestry has allocated five million three hundred thousand seedlings, with the support and contribution of a number of public and private institutions, to the success of this national event, which represents a new step towards enhancing vegetation cover and building a greener and more sustainable Algeria.
