Messi gifts Trump a jeweled soccer ball – New Algeria

Argentine star Lionel Messi presented US President Donald Trump with a pink, jewel-encrusted soccer ball during a ceremony held yesterday evening, Thursday, at the White House.

Trump honored Inter Miami after winning the MLS Cup last December, as Messi was one of the biggest contributors to this achievement after he joined the team in the summer of 2023, coming from the French club Paris Saint-Germain.

Trump said, during Yesterday’s partyAddressing Messi: “Leo, you came and won, and this is a very difficult achievement, and completely unusual, and frankly, there is enormous pressure on you more than anyone imagines, because you expected to win, but rarely does anyone always win.”

He added: “You could have gone anywhere in the world. You could have chosen any team in the world, but you chose to go to Miami. I don’t blame you. The weather is very wonderful.”

Trump continued: “I just want to thank you for sharing this experience with all of us, because you are wonderful, talented, and a great person.”

Trump talked about watching the Brazilian legend Pele play for the American team New York Cosmos. Then he looked at Lionel Messi said: “Maybe you are better than Pele,” then he asked those present: “Who is better?”

Inter Miami is the first Major League Soccer team to be invited to the White House during Trump’s two terms as president.
