In a speech addressed to the American people and the world at dawn on Sunday, Trump said that “the aim of the strikes is to destroy Iran’s ability to enrich uranium and prevent any future nuclear threat,” stressing that “the three Iranian nuclear facilities were fully destroyed,” as he put it.

Trump described the operation as “a wonderful military success and a deterrent message to Tehran,” and added: “Iran now should make peace, otherwise the upcoming strikes will be much greater and more accurate,” noting that “the goals of the night were one of the most difficult, but there is more if it required.”

Trump stressed that the primary goal of the process is to “prevent Iran’s possession of any ability to threaten global security,” stressing that “the United States still has a list of other ready -made goals, and that Iran faces two options: peace or tragedy.”

Trump also announced that the Pentagon will hold a press conference later to present the details and results of the military operation.

Trump’s comments came after Iran’s major nuclear facilities were subjected to American attacks. Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan are a pivotal sites in Iranian nuclear infrastructure, and parts of which are subject to the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

These developments come in light of the stumbling of diplomatic efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement, and the collapse of recent talks in Geneva between Iran and European countries on the future of the nuclear program.

It also comes in light of mutual military strikes between Iran and Israel.

There has been no official response from the Iranian government to Trump’s statements or details of the attack, while the operation is expected to raise widespread regional and international repercussions.
