Algerian international player Riyad Mahrez confirmed that he aims to win the African Cup of Nations title with the “Greens” team in 2025.
The 2025 Cannes Finals will be held in Morocco from December 21 to January 18. During the first round of the competition, Algeria will compete in a group that includes the teams of Burkina Faso, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea.
In anticipation of the continental date, the Algerian national team recently held a preparatory camp in the Saudi city of Jeddah. It included playing two friendly matches, which they won against Zimbabwe (3-1) last Thursday, and Saudi Arabia. (2-0)Yesterday evening, Tuesday.
After the end of yesterday’s meeting, Mahrez said, Press statements:”I think we played well. There is a noticeable improvement in the level.”
He added: “I believe that we are working well, and are gradually correcting our mistakes. The offer presented to Saudi Arabia bodes well.”
The Algerian national team captain continued: “We are close to the African Cup of Nations, and we must continue in this vein, in order to try to return with the title during the Moroccan version.”
It is worth noting that the Algerian national team, after winning the African Cup of Nations title in the 2019 Egypt tournament, was eliminated from the first round during the finals of the Cameroon tournament in 2022 and the Côte d’Ivoire tournament in 2024.
