Madahi crowns the winners of the National Award for Traditional Crafts – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Houria Maddahi, supervised the distribution ceremony of the National Award for Traditional Crafts and Crafts in its twenty-second edition for the year 2025, at the Mofdi Zakaria Palace of Culture in Algiers, within the framework of implementing the national policy aimed at promoting traditional industry, encouraging creativity and preserving the national cultural heritage.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Emerging Enterprises and Micro-enterprises, and the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council.

In addition to a number of members of Parliament, sector executives, representatives of public bodies, and an elite group of male and female craftsmen from various states of the country.

The Minister stressed that this award embodies the state’s recognition of the value of traditional crafts and the pivotal role played by craftsmen in preserving the national cultural heritage.

Renewing its commitment to accompanying national competencies through support, training and economic empowerment mechanisms.

Madahi explained that the award is an annual milestone to consolidate the culture of excellence and innovation, and to protect crafts that are threatened with extinction.

While enhancing the competitiveness of craft products and their role in local development and job creation.

This edition witnessed the participation of more than 620 craftsmen, male and female, who presented 674 products.

The elimination stages resulted in 42 products qualifying for the final stage, during which 7 craftsmen in various specializations were crowned.

On this occasion, the Minister announced the official launch of the digital platform for managing traditional industry and craft activities.

In a move aimed at keeping pace with digital transformation and simplifying administrative procedures for the benefit of professionals.
