London: Safer than New York, despite Trump’s statements

London Police Commissioner Mark Rowley confirmed on Monday that the homicide rate in the British capital had fallen to its lowest levels in more than a decade, making the city safer compared to New York, Los Angeles and many European capitals, contradicting statements by US President Donald Trump about the rise in violence in London.
Rowley pointed out that serious violent crimes are constantly declining, based on police data and hospital reports, explaining that some claims spread online, including fake videos using artificial intelligence, do not reflect the reality on the ground.
The commissioner’s statements came after repeated accusations from Trump and stories about “no-go zones” in London, while the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, confirmed in the Guardian newspaper that the capital is achieving tangible successes in combating violent crimes, despite the rise in some other types of crimes such as shoplifting.
