Launching the third phase of the polio vaccination campaign

On Sunday morning, the third session of the national polio vaccination campaign, organized by the Ministry of Health, was launched on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and extends until January 31, 2026 across the entire national territory, under the slogan “Together, united against polio.”

On this occasion, the Algerian state services, in a statement issued on Sunday, called on all parents to vaccinate their children during the days of the campaign targeting all children from two to 59 months of age, through all health structures and mobile vaccination teams, considering that the vaccine is safe, effective, and a basis for protecting children’s health.

The Ministry of Health revealed that 3,838,881 children were vaccinated against polio, across all states of the country, with a coverage rate of 96 percent, which reflects the effectiveness of the national strategy adopted in the field of health prevention.

The Ministry of Health said in a statement that the latter “knows that the second phase of the national polio vaccination campaign, which took place during the period from December 21 to 30, 2025, 3,838,881 children were vaccinated across all the states of the country, between the ages of two (02) months and five (05) years, with a coverage rate of 96%, which reflects the effectiveness of the national strategy adopted in the field of health prevention, and its consistency with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.”

On this occasion, the Ministry of Health renewed its sincere thanks and appreciation to all health professionals, the various concerned ministerial sectors, partners, the media community, civil society, as well as to the parents, for their effective contribution and continuous mobilization to make this phase of the campaign a success.

The Ministry of Health also reminded parents of the need to ensure that their children are vaccinated during the launch of the third phase of the campaign, scheduled for the period extending from January 25 to 31, 2026, in order to ensure the protection of the health of our children.

The Ministry had deployed more than 7,000 vaccination centers across the entire national territory, during the second phase, supported by mobile medical teams that worked to reach remote and isolated areas, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive coverage of all targeted children, between the ages of two months and five years.
