Today, Saturday, the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kawthar Kerikou, accompanied by the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Control, Amal Abdel Latif, at the Central Post Office Square in the capital, supervised the official launch of the national campaign to rationalize consumption and reduce food waste during the holy month of Ramadan.

This campaign is organized in joint coordination between the Ministries of Environment, Quality of Life, and Internal Trade and National Market Control, with the participation of several sectors and bodies, as part of efforts aimed at reducing the negative environmental impacts resulting from food waste, especially with regard to the high volume of household waste and its repercussions on the environmental environment.

The initiative aims to enhance environmental awareness among citizens, establish a culture of rational consumption, and call for the adoption of responsible behaviors that contribute to reducing waste, reducing waste production, and improving waste management methods, especially during the month of Ramadan.

The campaign also witnessed the organization of interactive and awareness-raising workshops, supervised by the National Waste Agency and the National Institute for Environmental Training, under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life, where light was shed on the dangers of food waste on the environment, and the importance of reducing waste at the source, in addition to introducing selective sorting mechanisms, in a way that enhances the adoption of sustainable environmental practices during the holy month.
