Launching of the Algeria Prize for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an under presidential sponsorship – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youssef Belmehdi, inaugurated in Algiers the activities of the “Algeria Award for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an,” organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the competitions continuing until next Monday.

The demonstration includes the sixth edition of the national competition for memorizing, reciting and interpreting the Holy Qur’an, in addition to the twenty-second edition of the encouragement competition for young memorizers of the Holy Qur’an.

Belmehdi stressed, by the way, that Algeria has become a destination for memorizers and reciters of the Qur’an from various countries of the world, noting that the National Recitation Authority includes more than 120 professors specialized in the science of Qur’an, in addition to university competencies proficient in the ten narrations.

The Minister highlighted the state’s support for Qur’an schools, zawiyas, and religious institutions that contribute to the formation of proficient memorizers, recalling the results achieved by Algeria in international competitions for memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an.

He also praised the care given by the President of the Republic to this competition, considering that it falls within the framework of supporting everything that strengthens Algerians’ connection to their religious and national identity.

Belmehdi, on the other hand, revealed that the decree regarding the Algeria Prize for the Eternal Prophet’s Biography will be issued soon.

15 competitors under 25 years old will participate in the national competition, while the encouragement competition includes 15 participants under 15 years old, and the official closing ceremony will be held on Laylat al-Qadr at the Algiers Mosque.
