On Sunday, Minister of Communication Mohamed Laqab expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the behavior of local television channels due to the exaggeration in broadcasting advertisements, noting that “these channels harmed themselves first, then the citizen and the national media, and the public authorities will not remain without reaction in the face of this situation that must be remedied.” As soon as possible”.

In his meeting, on Sunday, with directors of public and private television channels, Minister Laqab criticized the failure of most private television channels to adhere to international standards that run advertising campaigns, as they have transformed, as he said, from “media channels to advertising channels,” highlighting that advertisements have exceeded in many channels. 45 minutes without interruption, especially during breakfast, which raised the resentment of viewers who preferred to follow national channels during this religious occasion, pointing out that “there are international standards governing the field of advertising that must be adhered to.”

On the other hand, the Minister of Communication stressed the need to take into account the values and customs of Algerian society in the programming network broadcast during the holy month of Ramadan.

He stressed the need to take into account the sanctity of the holy month and the values of Algerian society while broadcasting various programmes, noting that the guardianship move came “based on the many violations identified by the Vigilance Committee that was installed to follow up on Ramadan programs since the advent of the holy month.”

One of the most important things that was recorded in this regard – Laqab explains – is that “some series included unjustified clips that do not fit with the sanctity of the month of Ramadan and the customs of Algerian society, and they could have been deleted without this having an impact on the progress of production as a whole.”

The minister pointed out that the matter “is not related to the topics around which these series revolve, but rather to the way they are addressed, which lacks creativity,” pointing out that “the method of presentation sometimes suggests that these series encourage deviations and social evils such as drugs instead of raising awareness of their danger.”

In the same context, he added that “some producers changed the scenarios that were licensed by the Ministry of Communications,” which he described as “completely unacceptable,” holding TV channel managers “full responsibility” with regard to monitoring the content of the programs before they are broadcast.
