Kenya dominates Algiers International Half Marathon – New Algeria

Kenya dominated the Algiers International Half Marathon race, which was held today, Friday, and witnessed wide participation, from both genders.

And he scored Kenya runners The first three places are for men and the first two are for women. This was in a race that took place over a distance of 21,097 km, with the participation of about 6,500 male and female runners.

Kenyan runner Simon Mayowa topped the Algiers International Half Marathon in its first edition. This was after covering the race distance in a time of 01 hours, 01 minutes and 44 seconds. He outperformed his compatriots, Kimtai Anthony, who clocked 01h 01m 59s, and Kopto Adon Kiprop, who achieved 01h 03m 34s.

The best place for an Algerian runner went to Mohamed Seifeddine Boukartaba, who came in sixth place with a time of 01:05:06 and 06 seconds.

Kenya also won the top two places among women, thanks to runners Lungari Gladi Cherub and Ritu Daisy Jamitai. The third place went to Ethiopian Memekonnen Siwarg Haimanout, while Algerian Souad Ait Salem came in fourth place.

The winner of the half marathon, Kenyan Simon Mayowa, said: “I praise the efforts made by Algeria to make this international event a success. The course in which we brought a number of municipalities in Algiers is wonderful and deserves praise. I thank all those responsible for organizing and directing it.”

In the half marathon category for adults, the international competition witnessed absolute dominance of Algerian runners (men and women) in the first places. The same achievement was achieved by Algerian representatives in the 10 km race, after winning the first ten places for men and the first five for women.

The start signal was given for the first international half marathon in Algiers and the 10 km race, near the “Farhani” stadium in Bab El Oued, while the arrival of the participants was scheduled in front of the Algiers state headquarters. This passes through “Omar Hammadi” Stadium in Bologhine, Rais Hamidou, Port Said Square, Colonel Amiroush Street, May 1st Square, Mohamed Belouizdad Street, the Madaoumine Metro Station and the Experimental Garden in Hamma.
