Judicial councils organize midterm elections for members of the Supreme Judicial Council – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Wednesday, judicial councils across the entire national territory held annual elections for the midterm renewal of members of the Supreme Judicial Council, in an organized democratic process aimed at electing representatives of judges and ensuring the renewal of the council’s bodies in accordance with the law. The elections took place at the level of the Algerian Judicial Council in good and orderly conditions, with full commitment to legal procedures and transparency, while the results are expected to be announced in the coming hours after the completion of the counting process.

These elections include the election of government judges and prosecutors for the regular judiciary and courts, in addition to the election of members representing the administrative judiciary, who are state governors and advisors. Voting also includes the election of a Public Prosecutor as one member for the Public Prosecution in the judicial councils, two members for the ruling judges, and one member for the ruling judges in the Supreme Court, in addition to the election of one member for the Public Prosecution in the Supreme Court. At the level of the State Council, two members are elected for the ruling judges and one member for the state governors, while the administrative judiciary and the administrative courts of appeal include the election of two advisors and one member for the state governors.

The Supreme Judicial Council, which is chaired by the President of the Republic, supervises the management of the affairs of judges and ensures the independence of the judiciary from the executive and legislative powers. The Council undertakes the task of appointing, appointing, promoting and transferring judges according to standards of competence and seniority, while ensuring respect for the ethics of the judicial profession and ensuring the independence of the judiciary, in a way that enhances citizens’ confidence in the judicial system and ensures the practice of justice in a fair and transparent manner.
