Iran criticizes the Security Council resolution and describes it as “distorting the facts”

Iran’s representative to the Security Council criticized the Council’s recent resolution, considering that it “distorts the facts on the ground” and ignores the root causes of the current crisis.
The Iranian delegate said that what happened within the Council reflects the primacy of political considerations over the principles of the United Nations Charter, describing the decision as a “clear injustice” against his country, which he considered the main victim of an aggressive act.
He added that the United States and the “Israeli entity” began the war with an attack on Iran on February 28, stressing that Tehran continues to exercise its right to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He pointed out that the attack began with assassinations targeting the Supreme Leader and Iranian officials, which led to thousands of casualties, explaining that more than 1,348 civilians were killed and more than 17,000 injured since the start of the attacks, in addition to the destruction or damage of more than 19,000 civilian sites, including homes and hospitals.
