Iran considers the presence of the aircraft carrier “Gerald Ford” in the Red Sea a threat to its security – Al-Hiwar newspaper, Algeria

Today, the spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbia headquarters described the presence of the American aircraft carrier “Gerald Ford” in the Red Sea as a threat to Iran, stressing that the movements of American warships in the region raise Tehran’s concerns.

The Gerald Ford aircraft carrier is the largest aircraft carrier in the world, and it entered service in July 2017 as the first ship of its class within the US Navy, with a construction cost of about $12 billion. It was equipped with electromagnetic launch systems, two nuclear reactors, and advanced combat equipment.

The carrier can carry more than 75 aircraft, and carries out major strategic missions that include supporting American military operations and its allies around the world, which makes its presence in conflict areas the subject of close monitoring by the countries concerned.
