Instructions to respect the deadlines for the restoration of the ancient monuments of the Kasbah

The Minister and Governor of Algiers, Mohamed Abdel Nour Rabhi, gave instructions on the necessity of respecting the deadlines for the restoration of the ancient monuments of the Kasbah, while adhering to the quality of completion and preserving the original decorative forms.

The Governor of Algiers made an inspection visit to the ongoing works on a number of monuments and palaces located in the ancient city of the Kasbah, such as Hassan Pasha Palace, Dar Al Kasbah, the headquarters of the former administrative district of Bab El Oued, Ahmed Pasha Palace, Ali Betchin Mosque, and Dar Al Hamra, where comprehensive presentations were made about the various restoration and decoration works that characterize these monuments, especially those related to strengthening the foundation and ceilings, in addition to the wooden floors and doors.

In the same instructions, Rabhi also stressed the necessity of preparing the axes and facades of buildings adjacent to these landmarks, studying the possibility of reclaiming vacant buildings to exploit them to create open spaces, and studying the possibility of installing elevators in various palaces in order to facilitate visits to their facilities by people of determination and the elderly.

During the visit, the Minister expressed his admiration for the work provided by the young graduates of the Institute of Antiquities, who are participating in the restoration work, praising their interest in the field of heritage preservation, as he stressed the necessity of training young people in the crafts of maintenance and decoration work, while in the context of the last, he provided directions for installing identification cards that highlight the history of historical monuments and the works of their restoration and preparation,

On its National Day, which falls on February 23 of each year, the ancient city of the Kasbah is considered one of the most ancient historical monuments, as it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992. In order to preserve this ancient heritage, the state’s departments are implementing a program of restoration, rehabilitation and rehabilitation of historical monuments, mosques, palaces and buildings, in addition to preparing tourist paths and paths with the aim of valuing this heritage and enhancing its attractiveness as a prominent historical and tourist destination.
