In the video: The Algerian coach justifies slapping his players – New Algeria

Yassine Manea, coach of the Algerian youth football team (under 20 years old), broke his silence. Today, Thursday, he spoke about an incident where he slapped his players during the friendly match that brought his team together with the Tunisian national team, last Saturday, at the “Omar Hammadi” stadium in Bologhine, Algiers.

Yacine Manaa chose the official channel of the Algerian Football Federation FAF TV To talk about that incident, which caused a huge uproar.

The uproar was not limited to Algeria only, but extended to most parts of the world, especially the Arab countries.

Manea had appeared in a video clip, which spread like wildfire, on various social networking sites, slapping two of his players to break up a clash with their counterparts from Tunisia.

That match took place for the second round of Algeria International Course For under 20 years, called the “Young Warriors Course”. The victory was returned to the Tunisian team with a score of three goals to two.

Tunisia was later crowned champion of the tournament after occupying first place, ahead of Algeria, Egypt and Mauritania.

After evaluating the performance of the Algerian national team in the friendly tournament, Yassine Mana preferred to talk about the famous incident. He first apologized to the players’ parents, then said: “Yes, I admit that I made a mistake, and to judge an incident like this, it is advisable to be on the field and observe everything.”

Mana continued, explaining: “Things were about to get out of control and out of their sporting context. My action was to prevent anything outside the sporting scope from happening.”

He noted: “To everyone who wants to fish in troubled waters, I tell him that he must be with us to discover the family atmosphere inside the camps.”

The national coach of the youth team concluded: “I consider the team’s players to be like my children, and I do not accept them assaulting their competitors or saying obscene words.” I apologize again for that behavior.”
