Today, Sunday, Jin Jin Port witnessed the reception of the ship XIN YONG CHANG 19, loaded with the equivalent of 800 20-foot equivalent containers, including 200 designated for transbordement, in a precedent that is the first of its kind at the national level, according to a statement by the corporation.

The Jin Jin Port Corporation statement explained that the process consists of storing containers coming from China At the port, Before being shipped later on another ship heading towards the port of St. Petersburg, Russia.

Transbordement operations are port activities with high added value, as they allow the port to be transformed from a mere transit point for national goods into a regional and international logistics hub within global supply chains. These operations contribute to increasing the volume of container traffic and maritime navigation without a direct connection to local demand, which increases the cost-effectiveness of investments in port infrastructure and equipment.

Transit shipping operations also enable major international shipping lines looking for pivotal ports to redistribute containers to multiple destinations, which enhances the port’s competitiveness at the Mediterranean level and improves the operational and financial performance indicators of the port institution, by increasing the revenues of handling, storage, and accompanying logistics services.

At the conclusion of the statement, the Corporation stressed that the success of the first transshipment operation at the national level at the port of Jin Jin constitutes a strategic turning point towards consolidating the port as an international logistics center, and supports the national trend to diversify the economy and enhance foreign trade outside the hydrocarbons sector.
