Imported meat marketed as local! – New Algeria

The Algerian Consumer Defense Organization revealed the recording of several violations related to the marketing of imported meat as local red meat, and also raising its prices above what was set by the regulatory authorities.

The Consumer Defense Organization confirmed, in a post on its official page on: FacebookDespite the efforts made to ensure the abundance of meat in the markets and control its prices, some illegal practices have been recorded by some merchants, including selling imported meat at prices higher than the specified prices.

It also indicated that it was not declared as imported meat or imported calves slaughtered locally, in addition to not announcing the prices inside the stores, describing the matter as practices that affect consumer rights or market transparency.

The organization called on citizens to report these violations by sending pictures or information about the recorded violations. Specify the name of the store or place of sale and the state, in order to enable the concerned authorities to intervene and take the necessary measures.
