Important statement about importing sacrificial animals! – New Algeria

Today, Thursday, the Minister of Agriculture, Yassin Walid, held a coordination meeting devoted to following up on the implementation of the President of the Republic’s directives regarding the import of sacrificial animals, as it is expected to import one million sheep in anticipation of Eid Al-Adha, according to a ministry statement.
The Ministry explained that during the meeting, the need to benefit from the experience of importing sacrificial animals for the year 2025 was emphasized, with the aim of improving performance and overcoming the shortcomings recorded during the previous process.
In this context, the Ministry decided to expand the list of supplying countries, in addition to concluding new health agreements with them, and renting ships specialized in transporting livestock.
A decision was also taken to send technical teams, as soon as possible, to the countries concerned with supply, in order to verify the health guarantees provided, while doubling the number of quarantine points compared to last year. It was also announced that the private sector would be involved in the process of transporting sacrificial animals from the ports to the various states of the country, in addition to the development of new mechanisms to organize the sale process.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided to form a national committee that includes the secretaries-general of the relevant sectors, which will undertake comprehensive supervision and follow-up of the implementation of this process.
