Important files on the government table – New Algeria

This Wednesday, Prime Minister Seifi Gharib chaired a government meeting devoted to studying a number of strategic files related to economic development, infrastructure and public services, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Departments.

At the beginning of the meeting, the government listened to a detailed presentation on the hydrocarbon development plan for the period 2026-2030, which is considered a pivotal strategic framework for developing the hydrocarbon sector and supporting the national economy in a sustainable manner.

Based on the same statement, this plan is consistent with the directives of the country’s higher authorities, especially with regard to developing refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, and seawater desalination, in addition to improving the valuation of energy resources, enhancing national energy security, and strengthening Algeria’s industrial capabilities.

The meeting also discussed a presentation on the financing of the African Development Bank for the railway project linking Laghouat, Ghardaia and Mnaia, which is a project of national importance that falls within the plan to modernize and connect the railway network, in line with the completion of major projects with high economic and social returns.

In return. The government studied the status of the Code of Equipment Projects registered in the state budget, with the aim of purging useless operations and directing the state’s efforts towards completing ongoing programs that have proven economic and social benefit.

In terms of supporting innovation and valuing scientific research, the government listened to a presentation on a new fodder for sheep known as “sheep dates,” which is an innovative product stemming from the optimal exploitation of date waste, patented, and developed by the Center for Scientific and Technical Research for the Arid Regions of Biskra.

In the same context, it is expected that this feed, intended for fattening sheep, will constitute an effective alternative to imported fodder corn, thus enhancing national food security.

In the context of monitoring the situation in the supply of drinking water, especially in areas suffering from scarcity of water resources in the south of the country, the government listened to a presentation on the launch of two projects for the completion of water purification plants from mineral salts in Timangset and Tindouf, which were approved by the President of the Republic.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the government was informed of the progress of the process of importing and distributing public transport buses, which falls within the implementation of the President of the Republic’s program aimed at importing 10,000 new buses, with the aim of renewing the national park and improving passenger transport services across the various states of the country.
