Hamas: Security in Gaza is Palestinian and violations threaten the agreement – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Hamas leaders confirmed today, Tuesday, that the other party did not adhere to the terms of the cessation of war agreement, noting that more than 813 violations had occurred since the agreement came into effect, at a rate of 25 violations per day, which included killing, field executions, shooting, bombing, and assassinations, in addition to crossing the agreed-upon lines for distances that sometimes reached about two kilometers. Leader Ghazi Hamad confirmed that the movement was fully committed to the agreement, warning that continued violations threatened the agreement and put it “in limbo,” pointing to the martyrdom of about 400 Palestinians, more than 95% of whom were civilians.
For his part, Hossam Badran, a member of the movement’s political bureau, explained that the Palestinians will assume responsibility for internal security in the Gaza Strip, while the role of any potential international force will be limited to monitoring the borders, according to a specific mandate that does not interfere in internal affairs. He stressed that the management of the sector will be entirely Palestinian, in cooperation with a committee of experts to ensure internal security, with a preference for the participation of countries friendly to the Palestinian people only.
These statements come at a time when the US President announced the readiness of 59 countries to participate in an international force to maintain stability in Gaza, amid reports of Washington’s dissatisfaction with the extent of international participation so far.
