The “Deterrent” force of the security services of the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip announced the implementation of an operation against a militia known as the “Popular Army,” led by Yasser Abu Shabab, in the eastern regions of the city of Rafah, south of the Strip.
The force said, in a statement published on the “Telegram” application, that it carried out at dawn on Tuesday “a precise security operation as part of the ongoing deterrence operation against the dens of treason,” targeting “the militia of fugitive from justice Yasser Abu Shabab, which worked to destabilize internal security and carry out suspicious activities outside the framework of the law.”
The statement added that the operation resulted in the arrest of a number of militia members and the confiscation of military equipment and tools that were used in their “subversive activities,” after monitoring their movements during the past days. “Radaa” explained that the mission was carried out with “high field accuracy,” after a complete encirclement of the targeted area, which enabled the force to control the site and arrest the wanted persons “without any significant resistance.”
The force affirmed its continued “strike at the nests of chaos and treason, and pursue anyone who threatens the security of society or covers up for outlaw elements, until uprooting the roots of sedition and extending the control of justice over every land in our fortified sector.”
Radaa indicated that it would continue to attack the groups that “went out against Hamas during the war,” accusing them of “cooperating and communicating with hostile parties.”
The force did not announce whether the location of the operation was located within the borders of the “yellow line” under joint field control, or in other areas within the sector.
The Abu Shabab group, which calls itself the “People’s Army,” did not issue any statement or details regarding the incident.
The attack comes despite previous international warnings to Hamas against the consequences of undertaking such operations.
These groups are active in areas subject to special field supervision inside the Gaza Strip within the framework of ceasefire arrangements.
The most prominent of them is the Abu Shabab group, along with another group near the eastern border of the city of Khan Yunis, a third east of Gaza City, and a fourth near the northern border of the Strip.
