Guehi joins Manchester City

English international defender Mark Guehi has joined Manchester City from Crystal Palace, according to what the club management announced on Monday.
The 25-year-old player signed a contract linking him to the Citizens until 2031.
Guehi became the second player brought in by Manchester City in the winter transfer market, after Ghanaian striker Antoine Semenyu from Bournemouth.
Guardiola breathes a sigh of relief
Manchester City has struggled in defense recently due to injuries to the trio of Ruben Diaz, Jusko Gvardiol and John Stones.
Catalan coach Pep Guardiola found difficulties in forming his defense line during the last confrontation against Manchester United in the 22nd round of the English Premier League.
The Sky Blues lost to their traditional rivals 2-0 at Old Trafford, leaving them seven points behind leaders Arsenal.
Guardiola will breathe a sigh of relief with the success of the Guehi deal, which will give the team an additional solution for the rest of the club’s journey.
The Englishman had previously come close to joining Liverpool before the transfer was canceled for administrative reasons.
Player career
Mark Guahey is one of the most prominent defenders in the English Premier League in recent years.
The player was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, in 2000, and a year later he moved to live with his parents in England.
Mark began his football career at Crane Wanderers, before Chelsea included him in the club’s academy.
The Blues did not give him the opportunity to appear with the first team in the Premier League, so he left for Swansea City on loan.
Crystal Palace officials were impressed by his potential, so they signed him in 2021.
Last summer, Guehi led Crystal Palace to achieve their first title under the management of Austrian coach Oliver Glasner, as the latter defeated his current club, Manchester City, in the FA Cup final (1-0).
He also lifted the Charity Shield Cup (local wall) at the beginning of the current season, after Palace defeated league champion Liverpool on penalties.
Guehi carried the Palace shirt in 188 matches in all competitions, during which he was able to score 11 goals.
