Algeria expressed its “great concern” about developments in the Middle East, and called, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, “on all parties to exercise restraint and uphold the spirit of responsibility, to avoid exposing the Gulf region to further manifestations of insecurity and stability.”
The statement also stated, “The negotiations that took place within the framework of the mediation carried out by the Sultanate of Oman raised high hopes for the possibility of reaching a peaceful settlement of the Iranian-American discussions.”
However, the faltering of these negotiations, which is currently manifesting in a military escalation with unexpected consequences, is deeply regrettable, the statement concludes.
