Fenerbahce seeks help from Erdogan to bring in a French star

The president of the Fenerbahce Sports Club, Saadeddin Saran, thanked the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a message published by the club on its website.

President Erdogan contributed to solving the administrative problem that hindered the arrival of the French world champion, N’Golo Kante, to Fenerbahce.

The representative of the Asian side of Istanbul agreed with his counterpart from the Saudi Federation to bring in Kante before the curtain came down on the winter Mercato in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The process was not crowned with success after the Saudi club officials committed a mistake when registering the player through the international player recruitment platform “TMS,” according to a previous statement issued by the Fenerbahce administration.

In the face of this complex situation, the office led by Saran sought help from President Erdogan, who intervened at the international body level to find an urgent solution.

This step resulted in the completion of Kante’s arrival to Kadikoy, with Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri leaving for the Saudi club Al-Ittihad.

Strong reinforcement to Tedesco’s lineup

Fenerbahce is the second most decorated club in Türkiye in the local league (19) after its traditional rival Galatasaray (25).

Similar to previous seasons, the rivalry between the two teams in the Super League table has intensified this season, with three points separating leaders Galatasaray from runners-up Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce did not lose any match after twenty rounds, unlike Galatasa, which in turn achieved fewer draws than its neighbor (4 to 7).

Moreover, the two poles of Turkish football are competing outside the green rectangle in order to attract the most prominent stars of European and international football.

Fenerbahce’s population has been strengthened by big names since the arrival of the new administration led by Saran, such as former Galatasaray star Kerim Akturkoglu, Spaniards Marco Asensio, Matteo Guendouzi, and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson.

The team also included young players such as Malian Dorgelis Nene from Austria’s Salzburg, Frenchman Siddiqi Sherif from Angie on loan, and Dutchman Musaba Anthony from Turkey’s Samsunspor.

German coach Domenico Tedesco is counting on these reinforcements to compete with rival Galatasaray in all competitions.
