Today, Sunday, February 22, the Ministry of National Defense recalled the National Day of Brotherhood and Cohesion between the People and their Army for Democracy, stressing the symbolism of this date in the national memory.

The ministry’s statement said: “February 22 is the National Day of Brotherhood and Cohesion between the People and their Army for Democracy.”

On February 19, 2020, Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced the designation of February 22 as a national day of cohesion between the people and their army for democracy, according to a presidential decree signed by the President of the Republic.

The statement of the Presidency of the Republic at the time explained that this date would annually commemorate the historic gift of the Algerian people, when they came out united with their army in order to consolidate democracy.
