Everything the Minister of Education said in Parliament – New Algeria

The Minister of National Education reviewed, Muhammad Saghir SaadawiToday, Monday, before the Committee of Education, Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Religious Affairs of the National People’s Assembly, the sector’s strategy and its future work program, emanating from the government’s work plan and the program of the President of the Republic.
In his presentation, the Minister touched on his sector’s strategy and future work program, which aims to improve quality indicators in their pedagogical, managerial and investment dimensions, and achieve a quality school that guarantees equal opportunities and fairness for all students.
In terms of numbers, the Minister of National Education explained that the number of school structures reached, as of December 31, 2025, a total of 30,308 educational institutions, an increase of 607 institutions during the current academic season, while the number of educational supervision employees reached 630,641 professors in various educational levels.
With regard to improving schooling conditions and the quality of education, the Minister confirmed that the Ministry of National Education has begun the construction of a significant number of new educational institutions, which would reduce the pressure on some schools and enable students to continue their studies in appropriate and stimulating conditions. He also stressed the keenness to improve the quality of educational institutions and raise the financial envelopes allocated for construction and equipment, with the aim of providing modern educational institutions that respond to the requirements of the educational process, thus providing a stimulating educational environment. In the same context, the Minister pointed out the significant increase in the financial cover allocated for the completion of school complexes, which reflects the state’s keenness to provide model educational institutions.
The Minister also explained that the national education sector has begun to witness qualitative improvements in academic programs and administrative organization, based on studies completed by the National Committee for Quality in Education, with the aim of improving the quality of education and keeping pace with global developments in the educational field. These improvements included the third year of primary education, by reducing the number of subjects, strengthening the Arabic language, history, and English language classes, in addition to raising the timing of the physical education subject to two hours per week.
