The People’s National Army was able to eliminate 04 armed smugglers, recover a Kalashnikov, and seize a large quantity of psychotropic substances, in the 6th Military Region.
The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement: “Within the framework of the war waged by the People’s National Army against smuggling barons and drug traffickers, and in the context of continuing efforts to secure the borders and combat smuggling and organized crime of all kinds, on the night of Sunday, March 15, 2026, joint detachments of the People’s National Army were able, following an ambush in the Arak region of Tamanrasset state, to eliminate (04) armed smugglers and recover (01) Kalashnikovs, (05) ammunition stores, and seize two cars. (02) two-wheel drive vehicles loaded with a large amount of psychotropic substances estimated at one million six hundred thousand (1,600,000) hallucinogenic tablets, in addition to two (02) Thuraya-type communication devices, and (04) mobile phones.”
The statement added that the outcome of this operation is added to the many specific operations undertaken daily by detachments of the People’s National Army and various security services across various parts of our country against these criminals in order to secure our border strip and thwart all attempts aimed at compromising the security and safety of our youth.
Joint detachments of the People’s National Army were able to eliminate terrorists and recover Kalashnikov machine pistols, a significant amount of ammunition and other items for the state of Tebessa.
The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement: “In implementation of the instructions of the Supreme Command of the People’s National Army regarding providing security and tranquility, especially during this holy month, and the continuation of field operations in the fight against terrorism, and thanks to the optimal exploitation of information obtained by the army’s security services.”
The statement added, “On Thursday night, joint detachments of the People’s National Army were able, following an ambush in the territory of the military sector of Tebessa in the Fifth Military Region, to eliminate terrorists and recover Kalashnikov machine pistols and a significant amount of ammunition and other items.”
This operation was in addition to the specific operation carried out on March 1, 2026 in the Zedine Forest in the Ain Defla Military Sector in the First Military Region, which led to the elimination of terrorists and the recovery of two Kalashnikov machine guns and a quantity of ammunition.
