Today, Wednesday, Egypt denied what was circulated by some reports about an agreement with the Zionist entity allowing the opening of the Rafah crossing in one direction for the exit of residents of the Gaza Strip, stressing that any opening of the crossing will be bilateral in both directions according to the plan of US President Donald Trump.
The State Information Service of the Presidency of the Republic explained that the entity will coordinate with Egypt regarding the exit of the Palestinians under the supervision of a European Union mission, noting the need to obtain Israeli security approval for those wishing to leave, without setting an official date for opening the crossing.
This came in response to a Zionist announcement stating that the entity would open the crossing to allow the Palestinians to leave, while the Zionist Channel 12 quoted an official that the occupying entity had actually opened the crossings, stressing that Egypt’s refusal to receive the departures would be its responsibility.
The Rafah crossing is a vital point for humanitarian workers and food and fuel aid trucks, and it is also the main outlet for residents of the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged by Israel since 2007. The crossing was reopened for a short period during a truce last January, allowing the passage of authorized persons and aid trucks.
