Dismantling an organized criminal network for arms smuggling in Algeria – New Algeria

The Public Prosecution Office at the Sidi M’hamed Court reported the dismantling of a transnational organized criminal group consisting of ten individuals, which was working to smuggle weapons of various types and trade them illegally within the national territory.

The authorities were able to seize 124 hunting rifles, 13 air rifles, 3 firearms, in addition to 3,053 loaded cartridges, 3,975 empty cartridges, 1,144 grams of gunpowder, and 39 pistol cartridges, in addition to a quantity of spare parts for hunting rifles. An amount of money estimated at 10,536,000 Algerian dinars and 1,120 Tunisian dinars was also seized, in addition to 11 mobile phones.

The suspects were brought before the court and prosecuted on charges related to the felony of arms smuggling and trading without a license, in addition to the misdemeanor of money laundering.

After questioning the defendants by the investigating judge, the court issued orders to place them in temporary detention to complete the investigations.
