Director of National Security in Italy to strengthen the bilateral police partnership – New Algeria

During the period from 28 to 31 January 2026, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badawi, made a working visit to the Italian capital, Rome, at the head of a delegation that included senior officials from National Security, within the framework of strengthening international police cooperation and developing the bilateral partnership between Algeria and Italy in the security field.

During this visit, Ali Badawi held talks with his counterpart, the Italian Police Director, Mr. Vittorio Pisani, which focused on ways to enhance areas of bilateral cooperation and expand the scope of consultations and coordination, especially in the fields of training and training, and combating cross-border organized crime in its various forms, in a way that serves common interests and rises to the level of distinguished relations between the two countries, in the presence of a representative of the Algerian Ambassador to Italy.

In the context of the visit programme, the Algerian police delegation, led by the Director of National Security, made several field visits to specialized police services and facilities, beginning with a visit to the Italian Police Higher School, where he was briefed on its training facilities and received comprehensive explanations about the training curricula and programs adopted in preparing police frameworks. The delegation also visited the Operations Center of the Rome Police, charged with following up and coordinating security operations, before the program concluded with a visit to the Central Directorate of Scientific Police and Cybersecurity, along with the Central Directorate of Migration and Border Police.

On the occasion of the working visit, the Algerian police delegation participated in the high-level closing symposium of the International Training Center program in its second edition (ITEPA 2), organized by the Central Immigration Directorate of the Italian Police in coordination with the Egyptian Police Academy.

The symposium dealt with the topic “Border Police, Combating Clandestine Migration, and Detecting Document Forgery,” in the presence of experts from the European Union Commission and European Union agencies, along with representatives of international organizations participating in the project, and heads of police agencies of African countries benefiting from this program.

This visit falls within the framework of the General Directorate of National Security’s keenness to enhance international cooperation, exchange experiences, and keep pace with current security challenges, especially with regard to combating organized crime and irregular migration.
