
The Minister of Health, Mohamed Siddiq Ait Messaoudane, highlighted the importance that the state attaches to prevention and health promotion, through vaccination programmes, combating mobile and non-mobile diseases, promoting early detection of diseases and spreading a culture of prevention and sound health behaviours, in a way that reduces the burden on the health system and increases life expectancy and quality of life, stating that digital transformation is an essential lever for improving the performance of the health sector.
In his speech on the occasion of the opening of the National Study Meeting on Quality of Life under the slogan “National Gains with Development Stakes,” on Sunday, the Minister stressed that this meeting falls within the framework of the common interest in improving the quality of life of male and female citizens and falls within the priorities of the country’s higher authorities. It embodies a firm commitment stemming from the vision of the President of the Republic, and represents a collective responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all actors.
He explained that improving the quality of life begins with improving the social determinants of health, as a strategic axis in the national development plan, through free prevention and treatment, and enhancing health coverage, ensuring fair access to health services, considering health a basic right guaranteed by the Constitution.
Ait Messaoudane stressed that the Ministry of Health is working to bring the health service closer to the citizen, by strengthening neighborhood health structures, developing primary health care networks, and improving care at the level of hospital institutions, noting that the development of health human resources occupies a pivotal position in reforming the sector, by improving the working conditions of health professionals, supporting training and continuous training, and motivating competencies, in a way that guarantees a quality health service based on efficiency and the human dimension.
He noted that the state attaches special importance to establishing specialized health poles at the national level, concerned with developing precision medicine, as a modern strategic option that aims to diagnose and treat diseases according to the specific characteristics of each region, allowing the concentration of national competencies, enhancing research and innovation, developing advanced technologies in the fields of diagnosis and targeted treatments, improving the efficiency of health care and improving the quality of health services.
The Minister also stressed that talking about comprehensive health cannot be separated from attention to mental health, by strengthening care structures and integrating them further into public policies, accompanying vulnerable groups and breaking the silence around this vital aspect of community health, stressing that digital transformation in the health sector represents an essential lever for improving performance and quality of management, through digitizing treatment paths and developing health information systems, which facilitates citizen access to treatment, and enhances the transparency and effectiveness of the health system.
In a related context, the Minister explained that the quality of life is closely linked to preserving the environment, as it is an essential element of public health, through protecting water resources, combating pollution, promoting green spaces, sustainable management of waste, and transitioning to renewable energies, in order to preserve the health of citizens and the future of future generations. The Minister also pointed out that strengthening neighborhood public services, supporting vulnerable groups, promoting culture and sports, and encouraging citizen participation, are all factors that contribute to building a more balanced, comprehensive, and solidarity-based society.
At the conclusion of his intervention, the Minister of Health stressed that improving the quality of life is not an abstract goal or a circumstantial slogan, but rather a measurable daily work that requires coordination, effectiveness, and collective engagement of all actors, including economic actors and civil society, reiterating the state’s commitment to ensuring a decent living for every citizen in safety, good health, and a bright future.
