Developing e-commerce is the focus of the government meeting

During its weekly meeting, the government studied the progress of some projects, in addition to many other points, including the national strategy for developing e-commerce, on the advantages provided by electronic communications services via satellites in non-stationary orbit.

On Wednesday, according to a statement from the Prime Ministry’s interests, Prime Minister Seifi Gharib chaired a government meeting devoted to studying many important points.

At the beginning of the government session, the government listened to a presentation on the national strategy for developing e-commerce, which falls within the framework of the country’s digital transformation vision and aims to modernize the national trade ecosystem and position e-commerce as a basic pillar of economic competitiveness and financial inclusion.

The government also listened to a presentation on the advantages offered by electronic communications services via satellites in non-stationary orbit. This system of communications allows for reducing the digital bill, ensuring access to high-flow Internet in rural and isolated areas, and complementing existing strategic facilities.

Last week, the government studied a draft executive decree that specifies the conditions and methods for authenticating electronic communications equipment, and falls within the framework of implementing the provisions of Law No. 18-04 of May 10, 2018, which specifies the general rules related to mail and telecommunications.

The Prime Minister’s statement added that, within the framework of following up on major structured projects, the government was informed of the progress of projects related to the railway development programme, the completion of a sports complex in the state of Constantine, the Boukhroufa Dam project in the state of El Tarf, and the Ighil Amda-Mahwan water diversion project in the states of Bejaia and Setif.
