Confederation Cup: Al-Shabab travels to Egypt and Al-Ittihad to the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Algeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, CS Belouizdad and USM Algiers, got to know their opponents in the quarter-finals.

The draw ceremony for the African Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions took place on Tuesday at the Egyptian National Teams Center in Cairo.

CS Belouizdad clashed with Al-Masry Club of Port Said, while USMA Al-Asimah faced Club Manyema from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

On the other side, Moroccan club Wydad Athletic Club will meet its compatriot Olympique Safi and Zamalek of Egypt, the Congolese club Otoho.

The road to the final

The CAF Club Competitions Committee set the date of March 15 for the first-leg matches of the quarter-finals, with the return matches to be played on March 22.

The second leg of the semi-finals was scheduled for April 12 and the return for April 19, while the authority settled on May 9 and 16 to hold the final match in a home-and-away system as well.

Union for the fourth time

Ittihad Al-Capital Club records its fourth consecutive attendance in the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup.

The team gained great experience in the competition, especially after winning the title in 2023, under the leadership of coach Abdelhak bin Sheikha, who recently left the club after a second period that did not exceed six months.

Al-Ittihad will face Congolese club Manyema for the third time in the Confederation Cup, as they previously faced each other in the first preliminary round in 2018.

The first leg at Joseph Kabila Stadium in Maniema ended in a draw with two goals in each net.

The two teams tied in Algeria 1-1, as the Algerian club was supervised by coach Miloud Haddi.

Hossam El-Din’s teammates will face Ghesha if they qualify for the semi-finals; The finalist of the match between Wydad Athletic Club and Olympique Safi of Morocco.

It should be noted that Olympique Safi was among the teams in the first group, which was topped by USM Algiers with a total of 14 points, as it beat the Moroccan club in Morocco with a goal to zero and tied in Algeria without goals.
