On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education announced the suspension of studies at all educational levels on Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 and 29, across several states of the country.
The Ministry of National Education said in a statement: “According to the urgent telegram sent by the Ministry of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport regarding the special weather bulletin warning of strong winds, studies have been suspended at all educational levels on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January 2026.”
The Ministry of Education revealed the concerned states: Oran, Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Mostaganem, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Mascara, Relizane, Naama, El Bayadh, Chlef, Tipaza, Algeria, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Ain Defla, Blida, Medea, Bouira, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Mila, Guelma, Oum El Bouaghi, Khenchela, Tebessa, Biskra, M’Sila, Djelfa, Laghouat, Ouled Jalal, Souk Ahras, Batna and Constantine.
For its part, the Algiers state authorities decided to temporarily close all forest areas and public parks.
The Algeria state services confirmed that the decision came against the backdrop of the Meteorological Office’s warnings of strong winds that could reach speeds of up to 120 km, as it includes the Al-Sablat Park, Al-Hamma Park, and the Zoo and Entertainment Park in Ben Aknoun.
The decision also includes Al-Kitani Park, the Water Source Park in Bourouba, and the Wadi Al-Smar Ecopark, and the decision will take effect tomorrow, Wednesday, and the day after tomorrow, Thursday.
The state called on all citizens to adhere to safety rules and exercise caution, calling for them to avoid going to forest spaces and public open and coastal spaces.
It also called for installing or removing vases and all objects that are prone to falling from balconies and roofs, and avoiding standing or passing near trees and electricity poles.
It also called on drivers to reduce speed, drive rationally, and hold the steering wheel well.
