Civil Protection calls for caution due to weather fluctuations

On Saturday, Civil Protection renewed its call to citizens to exercise the utmost caution and caution in the wake of weather fluctuations accompanied by strong winds across several states of the country.

In this context, the person in charge of information at the General Directorate of Civil Protection, First Lieutenant Yousef Abdat, explained that with the continued weather forecast for strong winds, Civil Protection renews its call to all citizens to “exercise the utmost caution and caution,” stressing the need to adhere to preventive advice and instructions to avoid accidents.

In this regard, he mentioned some guidelines that must be adhered to, such as “avoiding unnecessary movement during these climatic conditions, and avoiding standing under buildings under construction, as well as trees and electrical poles,” calling for calling the green number 1021 or the helpline 14 in the event of any accident.

Regarding the number of interventions counted by civil protection services since the beginning of the special weather bulletin on January 27, Abdat revealed that they amounted to 783 interventions related to falling trees, poles, and electrical cables, while the number of interventions resulting from partial collapses of walls reached 112 interventions.

During the same period – the same spokesman adds – the death of one person was recorded in the state of Oran and the injury of 20 others in the states of Algiers, Chlef, Skikda, Oran, Mostaganem, Blida, Boumerdes, Guelma and Oulad Jalal.

Evacuation operations were also carried out for a family of four in Naama Province, and three other families of 14 individuals in Relizane Province, according to the same source.
