On Friday, the FIFA headquarters in the Swiss city of Nyon will host the draw for the round of 16 for the Champions League.
The quorum of the 16 teams was completed after the end of the playoff matches, as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, Atalanta Bergamo, Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray and Bodo Glimt qualified.
This is accompanied by Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City.
A record for the English
The English set a new record in the continental competition, as they ensured the presence of six Premier League clubs in the round of 16, after Newcastle overcame the obstacle of the Azerbaijani club Qarabag in the playoff.

How to conduct the draw for the round of 16 for the Champions League
Clubs are divided into pairs based on their positions at the end of the league stage to form four seeded pairs (clubs in positions 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8).
The clubs in each seeded pair are drawn into one of two round-of-16 spots against the respective winners of the play-off matches, the placement of which is determined by a draw for the play-offs.
Four bowls are prepared for the lottery, where balls bearing the names of each pair of ranked teams are placed in the corresponding marked bowls according to the league standings.
The draw will determine the side of the table for all ranked teams, starting with the 7/8th seeded teams and ending with the 1/2th seeded teams.
One ball is drawn from the pot containing the two seeded teams (i.e. the 7th and 8th seeded teams) and opened for team display. The first team drawn from this pot is placed in its designated place on the silver side of the table. The other seeded team from the same group is then drawn and displayed, and then assigned their designated place on the blue side of the table. The same process is repeated with the rest of the ranked teams.
Date of matches
The first leg matches of the round of 16 will be played between March 10 and 11, while the return matches will be held on March 17 and 18.
The dates of April 7, 8, 14 and 15 were set for the quarter-final matches.
The semi-finals are scheduled for April 28 and 29, for the first leg, and May 5 and 6, for the return matches.
The final match will take place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, on May 30, 2026.
