Boughali confirms the depth of historical relations between Algeria and Slovakia – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Monday, the President of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, received the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Algeria, Marek Morin, stressing that the relations between the two countries are historic and based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation, with a strong political will to push these relations towards broader horizons.
Bougali pointed out that the parliamentary exchange between Algeria and Slovakia is currently facing restrictions due to the absence of the Friendship Group in the Slovak National Council, expressing his hope that this deficiency will be remedied to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation. He also noted that the National People’s Assembly has established more than 70 parliamentary friendship groups with parliaments around the world to enhance parliamentary diplomacy.
Regarding the economy, Boghali stressed Algeria’s efforts to diversify its economy away from dependence on hydrocarbons, noting that the Slovak economy possesses ingredients that form the basis for a fruitful economic partnership between the two countries. He also praised Slovakia’s positions in support of just international issues, most notably the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues.
For his part, the Slovak ambassador expressed his country’s desire to deepen parliamentary and economic cooperation with Algeria, conveying a congratulatory message from the President of the Slovak National Council, praising Algeria’s experience as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its role in promoting peace and security internationally and regionally.
The two parties agreed to intensify coordination and exchange visits to serve the common interests between the two countries.
