The Minister of Communication, Zouhair Bouamama, stressed that educational media is of utmost importance in the process of forming awareness and awakening consciences to lift the challenges imposed on the educational system, pointing to its close relationship with building national immunity and providing the basics of the nation’s strength and its educational and identity security.
During his supervision of the opening of a training course for journalists specialized in the educational field at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communication, on the occasion of World Education Day, Bouamama stressed that specializing in educational media requires the professional journalist to have greater competencies and skills that place him in front of the challenge of qualification and specialization, explaining that this field has several peculiarities that require producers of media content to have precise knowledge of the topics being treated due to the sensitivity of the sector.
The Minister explained that the matter is not only related to news formulated according to recognized techniques and contexts, but rather it is related to files that sometimes overlap with the pedagogical process and its specificities, educational curricula and their contents, not to mention issues related to educational security and its repercussions. The Minister praised the tremendous efforts made by the Algerian state in the education sector since independence, recalling that the budget allocated to this strategic sector amounted to 1,851 billion dinars, equivalent to 10.5 percent of the state’s general budget.
Bouamama called on the Algerian media specialized in the field of education to keep pace with the requirements of the new stage with high professionalism, in response to the ambitious goals set by the public authorities to improve the quality of school performance and to promote the reform of the educational system in accordance with the current challenges.
The Minister noted the reforms that the Minister of Education is working on with his team, which aim to ensure the quality of education through reforming the curricula and developing the educational system in accordance with developments and requirements that serve the interest of the country and consolidate the national identity and authenticity of Algerian society, in response to the directives of the President of the Republic.
