Boghali condemns settlement and describes it as a blatant violation of international legitimacy – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

In a statement issued on behalf of the Union, today, Thursday, the President of the National People’s Assembly and President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Ibrahim Boghali, condemned in the strongest terms the Zionist occupation authorities’ approval of the construction of 19 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, including existing and planned settlement outposts.

The statement stressed that this decision is a blatant and direct violation of international legitimacy resolutions, most notably Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, and 2334.

In addition to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which confirms the illegality of the occupation and the invalidity of all settlement measures.

The Union considered that this dangerous settlement escalation falls within a systematic policy aimed at perpetuating the occupation and imposing a fait accompli on the ground.

Which undermines the chances of a just peace and aborts the two-state solution,

It threatens the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, fully sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The Arab Parliamentary Union reiterated its full and permanent solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people.

Calling on Arab, Islamic and international parliaments to take immediate and concrete measures to stop these violations,

Including imposing sanctions on those involved, supporting international recognition of the State of Palestine, and increasing pressure on the Zionist entity to comply with the provisions of international law.
