Today, Wednesday, Prime Minister Ayman bin Abdul Rahman chaired a cabinet meeting.

A statement of the interests of the Prime Ministry stated: The Prime Minister, Mr. Ayman bin Abdel Rahman, chaired today, Wednesday, at the Government Palace, a meeting of the government dedicated to presenting presentations related to the sectors of higher education, digitization and irrigation.

In this regard, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Irrigation made a joint presentation on the measures taken to address the effects of water scarcity on agricultural areas, which falls within the framework of permanent follow-up of strategic crops that contribute to ensuring national food security in order to take the necessary corrective measures, especially those related to grain bearers. Which is closely monitored by the National Committee established at the level of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In this context, urgent measures were adopted for the benefit of farmers, especially by resorting to supplementary irrigation, as well as digging wells with the use of water-saving irrigation systems that save up to 70% of this water resource and allow for better results.

In the same context, the Minister of Irrigation gave a presentation on the emergency program for the supply of drinking water, as well as the measures taken to address the effects of water scarcity at the level of the concerned wilayats, in which he touched on the extent of implementation of the emergency program that was approved during the government meeting held on January 11, 2023, which concerns 19 states, In order to ensure the regular supply of drinking water to the residents during the current year.

The presentation also made it possible to study the progress of the projects being implemented in order to ensure water security in the short and medium terms.

National sessions on the reform and modernization of higher education

In another area, the government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research related to the project of organizing national sessions on the reform and modernization of higher education.

It should be noted that the upcoming organization of these sessions falls within the framework of embodying the directives of the President of the Republic that he gave during the cabinet meeting held on February 5, 2023, aimed at reviewing the higher education system according to a consensual vision for the university family.

On the other hand, the Minister of Digitization and Statistics gave a presentation on statistics related to economic accounts in Algeria.

The presentation highlighted the current status of the statistical system related to economic accounts and touched on the various obstacles facing the latter, as well as solutions aimed at improving it.

In this regard, the most important axes of the roadmap for the digitization and statistics sector in this field were highlighted, including the development of a dynamic platform for statistics aimed at improving the collection and exploitation of information and data for all sectors, especially in terms of availability, quality, comprehensiveness, accuracy, regularity, and reporting deadlines, in accordance with rules and standards. and international standards.
