Belouizdad’s youth shines in the Confederation, and Chabab falls three times

CS Belouizdad finished the group stage competitions for the African Confederation Cup in the best possible way after hosting its Congolese counterpart, Otoho Club.
The capital city team took revenge for the first leg defeat when it faced its rival on the field of Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, on Sunday evening.
Abdel Nour Ihab Belhousini scored the first goal for Al-Shabab in the 14th minute with a controlled header.
Farid Al-Malali added the second goal in a beautiful way, as he lifted the ball over the goalkeeper in the 41st minute.
Malian striker Bandiogo Diallo reduced the gap for Otoho in the 68th minute.
Belhousini and Khasef shine
Former Constantine Sports Club striker, Bellou Hosseini, has boosted his personal numbers in the continental competition this season, as he tops the scorers list with four goals.
For his part, left-back Nofal Khasif is at the top of the list of best passers with three assists.
CR Belouizdad topped the third group with 15 points, followed by Otoho with nine points, and the two teams qualified for the quarter-finals at the expense of Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars and South Africa’s Stellenbosch.
Algeria secured representatives in the quarter-finals of the African Confederation Cup, after the champion of the 2023 edition, USM Algiers, took the first place from Group A (4 wins and 2 draws).
JS Kabylie falls by three
This season, JS Kabylie left its mark on one of its worst participations in the African Champions League, which it won on two previous occasions (1981 and 1990).
The team was eliminated from the group stage, after drawing in three matches and losing on three occasions, the last of which was against Young Africans of Tanzania by 3-0, on Sunday.
Similar to Algeria’s second representative in the CAF Champions League, Mouloudia Algiers, German coach Josef Zinnbauer’s squad did not achieve a single point away from home.
Defender Zinedine Belaid’s teammates lost in three matches, the first against Al-Ahly of Egypt in Cairo with a score of 4-1, the second in Morocco against the Royal Army with an unanswered goal, and the third in Tanzania with three goals to zero.
