Belmehdi inaugurates the Qutb Mosque in Laghouat – New Algeria

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Youssef Belmehdi, made a working and inspection visit to the state of Laghouat, within the framework of the established program to support and strengthen religious structures and upgrade the performance of the sector’s institutions, in line with the national policy aimed at caring for the houses of God and consolidating their spiritual, educational and social mission.
According to the Ministry’s statement, today, Sunday, the Minister inaugurated the Qutb Mosque of the state, which bore the name “Mosque of Martyrs,” and announced its official opening in a solemn atmosphere, in the presence of the governor of the state, Dr. Muhammad bin Malik, and the local civil and military authorities, in addition to His Eminence Sheikh Ali Belarabi, General Caliph of the Tijaniya Order, and Dr. Mabrouk Zaid Al-Khair, President of the Supreme Islamic Council, sheikhs of Zawiya, and religious and national figures.
This religious edifice is a qualitative gain that strengthens the sector’s structures, and provides a spacious space for worship, Quranic education, and guidance activity, thus enhancing the pivotal role of the mosque in framing society and consolidating national and religious values.
The minister performed the first noon prayer at the Martyrs Mosque, before meeting the crowds of worshipers, where he stressed in his speech the importance of caring for mosques as beacons of knowledge, remembrance, and reform, and unifying institutions that contribute to strengthening national cohesion and spreading the discourse of moderation and moderation.
On the occasion, the Minister supervised the honoring of fifty (50) memorizers and memorizers of the Book of God who were certified in reading, and subsidies were also provided to a number of associations of a religious and social nature, in support of their activities and solidarity initiatives.
Based on the same statement, the visit program included the inauguration of the Qur’anic school “Manarat al-Qur’an al-Karim” at Al-Hussein Mosque in the municipality of Laghouat, where the Minister highlighted that supporting Qur’anic schools represents an investment in youth and the preservation of the national religious authority.
In the context of preparing for the holy month of Ramadan, the Minister supervised the signaling of the launch of a solidarity convoy through the Subul al-Khairat Council, in an initiative that embodies the spirit of solidarity and cooperation, and confirms the social dimension of the mosque institution in accompanying needy groups during the holy month.
This visit falls within an ongoing effort to enhance the sector’s presence on the ground, to enhance the mosque’s message as a comprehensive space for worship, education, and reform.
