Bastia announces the inclusion of Mehdi Merghem – New Algeria

French club Bastia announced, today, Tuesday, the inclusion of Algerian player Mehdi Marghem, only a few hours after JS Kabylie denied this deal.

Bastia Club published a picture of Mehdi Margham in the team’s shirt in the news announced by BHis official website. He said, “Sporting Bastia is pleased to announce the inclusion of Mehdi Margham. The 28-year-old player has signed a six-month contract with the option to extend for an additional two years, coming from JS Kabylie after completing the procedures for terminating his contract with his former club. The club is awaiting the international transfer certificate to complete the player’s registration.”

Mahdi Margham had joined Js Kabylie During the Mercato last summer, he signed a contract extending for two seasons, but his adventure did not last long due to disagreements with officials over the delay in settling financial dues, which prompted him to demand his departure. Margham participated with Shabab Al Kabylie in 21 matches in various competitions, during which he scored four goals and provided three assists.

The former French club Guingamp star had moved to the national championship, at the beginning of 2025, through the Algerian club Ittihad, coming from Portugal with a contract extending for two and a half seasons, but he did not last long and then moved to Chabab Club after only five months.

JS Kabylie had said on Monday evening: “JS Kabylie officially denies the reports circulating about Margham’s transfer to any foreign club. The player is still under contract with JS Kabylie, and no transfer deal has been completed for him.”

Bastia is struggling to stay in the French second division. It occupies last place in the standings with 15 points after 21 rounds.
